Arachne the design store, opened on the 18th of January 2003 with a fashion launch at the Park Hotel Bangalore held on the 17th of January. The fashion show at the Park was organised by Prasad Biddapa of the Design and Print Group.
Arachne houses two brand names for women, the SriSri Sacred collection and Ravage. Both are designed in house. The SriSri Sacred collection was also launched in conjunction with the opening of the store and the new meditation hall at the ashram on Kanakapura Road. The SriSri Collection is an endeavor by Ms. Mary Horak, a former business woman in the natural food industry of Florida. She now resides in Bangalore, and gifts her new project to her beloved Guru.
The SriSri Sacred collection is designed in collaboration with Ravage by Raj Shroff. The second brand Ravage is a six month old brand and sells at Cinnamon, Bangalore and Studio Saks, Chennai in addition to Arachne.Arachne is a 3000 square foot large design and life style studio that also houses a men's line by Lokesh Ahuja and the SriSri Sacred collection.
The home and life style accessories include jewelry by Amrapali, porcelain by Hamsa Vardhan, rasaya cushion covers, antiques by Time and Space, scarfs and belts by Ravage and Shilpa Jhaveri, lamp shades by Pragati T. Arachne also houses special pieces of furniture including Tanjore paintings. Shoes designed in house are also available at Arachne.
Arachne is the international headquarters of the SriSri Sacred collection. The first ever in house fashion show the SriSri Sacred collection summer '03 was presented at Arachne on Friday the 7th of February in the presence of the Art of Living Chairman India Mr. Arun Madhavan and 15 profesional couples who took up their basic Art of Living course held for the very first time at Arachne. Arachne proposes to have many more fashion shows and Art of Living courses for professionals and personalities in the fashion field.
Arachne's next projects are to have special beauty sessions featuring special makeovers and massage for the summer followed by a project of fun with satvic and nutritious vegetarian cooking by a delegate from Australia, Sandra Dubbs. In addition to the glamour aspect, Arachne would also like to appreciate and promote NGO's that work with the abused and underprivileged populations.
