The Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering, Chennai is the sister concern of the widely known as "Indian Institute of Professional Education" (IIPE).The Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering established during 2001-2002 has been approved by the All India Council for Technical Education (a statutory body under the Government of India), New Delhi and affiliated by Anna University.Location
The College is situated in a sprawling campus covering an area of more than 75 acres at Manimangalam Village, about 10 kms from Tambaram on Tambaram - Mudichur Road near Kishkinta.
The College houses separate blocks for Humanities and Sciences, Computer Science and Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Workshop in a total area of one lakh and twenty thousand square feet beside a modernized auditorium, spacious Library and seminar halls in each block to impart quality technical education.

The IIPE was established in 1993 by Dr. V.P. Ramamurthi, Ph.D. He is the alumnus and also the former professor of the prestigious College of Engineering (now the Principal Seat of the World famous Anna University). He is the founder and also the Director of the Institute since its inception.
Transportation
Motivated by his quest to provide enlarged educational opportunities to benefit a large number of student population, he established the Dhanalakshmi Educational Trust in 1998. He is the Managing Trustee of the Trust and has been the brain behind the establishment of Dhanalakshmi College of Engineering, at Chennai.
Transportation
A fleet of buses shall ply between the college to pick up/drop the students / staff with timing optimally.
Physics Laboratory
The Laboratory is equipped with special and highly sophisticated make of spectrometers and traveling microscopes besides equipments for conducting experiments on laser, optic fibre, semi conductor device, hysteresis etc. A dark room is available for conducting exper iments in optics

The College has highly qualified, experienced and dedicated faculty supported by adequate technical and administrative staff.
Class Counselor
One counselor (faculty) shall have 15 students normally. He/she shall keep track of the student's academic performance, attendance problem solving, periodic report to parents, appraise the HOD and Principal about the programmes of students and pay personal attention motivating and moulding young students into responsible citizens and qualifi ed professional
