We specially deal in white and coloured diamond. The colour of gemstone is one of the most important, for it is the colour, which strikes human eyes most strongly. It is produced in gemstone by absorption of light. This absorption of light is brought about by trace elements - also called transition elements, of which the most important and commonest are iron, chromium, copper, nickle and vanadium.
The colour of a diamond depends on the quality and nature of the included trace elements and how these originate.
Classification
On basis of season behind cause of colours, all gemstones are divided into
Allochromatic
Idiochromatic
Pseudochromatic
In allochromatic and idiochromatic, the colour is due to presence of transition element in stone, while pseudochromatic are colored due to crystal lattice structure default.
Allochromatic
These are gemstones, which are coloured due to the transition elements coming in as impurity.
Idiochromatic
These are gemstones, which are coloured due to presence of transition element in basic formula itself. eg peridot.
Pseudochromatic
These gemstones are not coloured by transition elements; the colour may be due to some other elements present as an impurity or due to some atomic structural defect.
