A small group of radical students came together during the year 1975-77 Emergency period to form a publishing unit under the name and style of `Pattaligal Veliyedu' and later under different nomenclature `Chennai Book House', `South Asian Books' and the present `South Vision' has together published over 700 Titles in Tamil. The subjects coverd are History, Economics, Environment, Politics, Education, Culture, Cinema, Biographies, Popular Science and selective fictions - Novel, Short stories and Poetry.
Over the period this venture has grown from strength to strengh and focused itself on the current debates on the IMF, World Bank and WTO conditionalities, implementation and impact. Also it has in recent past publised several books on Communalism and Secularism. The latest being `Gujarat Genocide 2002'. Our future plans are a series of books on Political Economy, Globalisation and Imperialism, Education and Cultural Action.
A six volume series `On Education' is ready for release in March 2003, Under the series title `Behind the Blackboard'.
Three Books an Imperlism and a six books series on `Agenda for Cultural Action' will be released in April.
