In 1928 Mr. Chatubhai Nanjee established a bookshop at 544 - Kalbadevi Road, Dhobi Talao, Mumbai - 400 002. At an age of about 60 years, Mr. Nanjee sold his shop to Mr.A.A.Mulji Shroff in the year of 1948. In 1960 MR.A.A.M.Shroff bought the adjoining shop from the Income Tax department.
In 1961 his second son Mr.Sultan joined his father. The shroff family with more man power and very good reputation put on more thrust to the trade by starting a publishing unit.
Though the publishing list is not very big but is definitely very impressive. It has best authors and Institutions on their lists.
